Bringing Home Baby

It is hard to find something sweeter than a bringing home a brand new baby. Although this was our fifth time to do so, I still felt all of the emotions: joy, wonder, awe, fear, exhaustion, panic.

My older kids were thrilled with our new addition, but perplexed by the extra, ahem – shall we say “endowment,” that sat on my chest like two huge melons. I was bombarded with questions such as, “Why does the baby have a dried blueberry stuck to his tummy, Momma?” Or, my own personal favorite: “Momma, will that machine you’re using milk cows like it’s milking your milkers?” Woa. Wait. Hold on a minute! Did she just refer to them as “milkers”? Yes, yes she did. Hoping to keep that one within the family walls, I tried not to make a big deal about it and went on my way.
